چکیده

In this paper, the characteristics of received Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signal amplitudes are analyzed under different scenarios including urban, semi-urban, foliage and indoor environments. Stationary, cyclostationary and nonstationary analyses are used to characterize the variations of the received signal amplitude under the aforementioned scenarios and various propagation models are validated using live GPS data. Both static and dynamic conditions are considered. Signal amplitude variations are highly dependent on the number of reflectors, receiving antenna gain pattern, user dynamics, characteristics of the signal blocking elements and time between blockages. In this paper, the dependence of the signal amplitude on the mentioned factors is empirically investigated using real GPS signals. It is shown that under certain scenarios, variations in the amplitude time series can be modeled as the linear combination of a few sinusoids. The amplitude variations become less predictable even in the presence of small user dynamics.

Harmonic retrieval in nonstationary noise

Harmonic retrieval is a classical signal processing problem but it has been almost invariably assumed that the additive noise is stationary. In this paper, we abandon this requirement and allow the additive noise to be nonstationary (but also non-cyclostationary in order to distinguish it from the information bearing signal). We show that various FFT based approaches can still be used on a sing...

A wavelet time-scale deconvolution filter design for nonstationary signal transmission systems through a multipath fading channel

This study attempts to develop a time-scale deconvolution filter for optimal signal reconstruction of nonstationary processes with a stationary increment transmitted through a multipath fading and colored noisy channel with stochastic tap coefficients. A deconvolution filter based on wavelet analysis/synthesis filter bank is proposed to solve this problem via a three-stage filter bank. A fracta...

Evaluation of Geometric and Atmospheric Doppler for GNSS-RO Payloads

To reduce the sampling rate in global navigation satellite system (GNSS)-radio occultation receivers, it is essential to establish a suitable estimation of Doppler frequency from the received signal in the satellite onboard receiver. This receiver is usually located on low earth orbit satellite and receives GNSS satellites signal in the occultation situation. The occurred Doppler on the signal ...

Recent Advances in Theory and Methods for Nonstationary Signal Analysis

All physical processes are nonstationary. When analyzing time series, it should be remembered that nature can be amazingly complex and that many of the theoretical constructs used in stochastic process theory, for example, linearity, ergodicity, normality, and particularly stationarity, are mathematical fairy tales. There are no stationary time series in the strict mathematical sense; at the ve...

A Novel Sampling Approach in GNSS-RO Receivers with Open Loop Tracking Method

Propagation of radio occultation (RO) signals through the lower troposphere results in high phase acceleration and low signal to noise ratio signal. The excess Doppler estimation accuracy in lower troposphere is very important in receiving RO signals which can be estimated by sliding window spectral analysis. To do this, various frequency estimation methods such as MUSIC and ESPRIT can be adopt...
